Genes y élites a mediados del III milenio AC: la interpretación actual del fenómeno campaniforme en la encrucijada

El estudio del fenómeno campaniforme cuenta ya con una larga historia de investigaciones, en su mayoría protagonizadas por los enfoques más tradicionales del historicismo. Sin embargo, desde los años 70 surgieron nuevas alternativas, centradas en su contexto social, vinculándolo a un fenómeno de élite y, posteriormente, al desarrollo de una serie de rituales de comensalidad. La súbita irrupción de los recientes estudios paleogenómicos ha supuesto una auténtica revolución que ha sacudido también la investigación de este problema. No tanto la información nueva que estos estudios revelan como la interpretación que se hace de los mismos es la que ha desencadenado una cierta vuelta a los más arcaicos enfoques historicistas, resucitando al “pueblo” y la “cultura” campaniforme en muchos trabajos recientes. Es posible, sin embargo, dar cuenta de todo este torrente de nueva información de una forma más matizada y serena, sin olvidar el desarrollo pendiente de muchas otras líneas de investigación, que contribuirían, sin duda, a un estudio más completo de un problema tan apasionante como complejo y polémico.
