Abstract
"Universalidad y singularidad de la literatura y el arte. La imaginación simbólica" is a book by Alfonso Martín Jiménez published by the University of Oviedo in the collection “Biblioteca de Filología Hispánica”, which has obtained the CEA-APQ Quality Seal in academic edition. In a previous book, "Literatura y ficción. La ruptura de la lógica ficcional" (Bern, Peter Lang, 2015), Martín Jiménez proposed with great success a textual model of literary genres based on the categories of the world of the author and the world of the characters, and, at the end of that book , announced a future expansion of his research, aimed at showing that these categories could be useful to explain the different arts and their similarities and differences with literature, as well as to "establish the universality of the arts" (Martín, 2015: 306 ). In the book that we are now reviewing this extension of the investigation is carried out.
