Abstract

The complex reality of Indian women, analyzed through their image in the films of that country, has led us to divide this article from the construction of the identity of Indian culture to the role that women play in it. Thus we will see the idealization of the woman-mother and her symbolic character: submissive and traditional woman, and that of the modern woman; free professional, sometimes westernized, who owns his life. What we call rape culture is a recurring theme in quite a few Indian films. As a reflection of Indian culture, music, color and choreography play a fundamental role in the most typically Bollywood films as metaphors for human passion. Erotic-artistic representation codes such as rain, nature, body expressions, dreams, etc. are created for topics related to sexuality. All this reflected in some filmic examples, whether independent films or Bollywood.
