The Experience of Consciousness: an Interpretation of the Introduction to the Phenomenology of Spirit: uma interpretação da Introdução da Fenomenologia do Espírito

Abstract

This article is an interpretation of the Introduction to the Phenomenology of Spirit in light of the concepts of bestimmte Negation (determinate negation), Umkehrung des Bewußtseins (reversal of the consciousness) and Aufhebung (conservation and overcoming). The aim is to demonstrate how such concepts are the driving concepts of the experience of consciousness (Erfahrung des Bewusstseins) as Hegel formulates and exposes it in the Introduction. Thus, the objective is to demonstrate how this experience shows us a new way of thinking about the temporality of consciousness, i. e., in contrast to the linear images of the path to be taken by consciousness, the experience that consciousness carries out about its object is a backwards look that creates your presuppositions and turns them into your true end. Therefore, it is about understanding how the path to science is itself science and that the Introduction to Phenomenology is its true beginning. In other words, there is no introduction to science because there is no science to be introduced unless you are already in it, and being in it means experiencing it.
