Abstract
The creation of the Regla square in front of the Cathedral's facade of León, was one of the most interesting urban projects of the XVI century. In the spatial configuration of it they were present the now ideas about Renaissance city planning until transformate it in a place with the foundings of a main square. The project was made in two chronological stages perfectly differentiated in their formal and esthetic conception. The first phase was started thanks to the desire of the bishops Pedro Manuel (1524-1534), and the designs of Juan de Badajoz el Mozo. The second stage is consolidated between 1579-1583, according to the original design of Juan del Ribero Rada, that it is conserved in the Cathedral's Archives of León. The picture is a good example classicistic architecnonic rigour under the influence of the models of Sebastian Serlio and Andrea Palladio.
