Call for Proposals for Special Sections in future issues of the Anuario del Departamento de Historia y Teoría del Arte de la UAM.

The Anuario del Departamento de Historia y Teoría del Arte de la UAM is now accepting proposals for special sections to be included in future issues of the journal (starting with volume 38, year 2026). The aim is to provide a space for in-depth exploration of specific topics related to art history, image theory, visual culture and cultural heritage, as well as issues related to material culture and theoretical and methodological approaches to art, among others. These topics may be approached from any chronological or geographical perspective, through the combined perspectives of different researchers, under the coordination of one or more scientific editors.

Proposals may be submitted by researchers with a doctoral degree from any national or international university or research institution. Particular attention will be paid to the academic background of the coordinators and to the innovation and thematic coherence of the proposed dossier.

The proposal must include

  • Provisional title of the special section
  • Explanatory summary of the topic and its relevance (max. 1000 words)
  • Name(s) and affiliation(s) of the scientific editor(s)
  • Short biographical note (max. 200 words) of the scientific editor(s)
  • Provisional list of between 4 and 6 papers, including:
    • Name of the author
    • Institutional affiliation of the author
    • Provisional title of the article
    • Abstract (max. 300 words per paper)

Papers will be accepted in Spanish, English, French and Italian, but the scientific editor(s) of the monograph will be responsible for the linguistic revision of papers not written in Spanish.

Proposals will be evaluated by the journal's Editorial Board, which may approve them for publication, request modifications, or reject them.

Evaluation criteria:

  • Scientific quality and originality of the proposed topic.
  • Scholarly interest in the field of Art History
  • Coherence and institutional diversity of the contributions
  • Editorial feasibility within the established deadlines

Peer-review and publication

Once approved by the Editorial Board, articles should be submitted by the agreed deadline, and will be externally peer-reviewed. Final acceptance of the dossier will depend on the quality of the texts received and compliance with the journal's guidelines for authors.
