Abstract

The introduction of digital techniques and of computer generated images in film production is giving birth to crucial changes which make more and more visible how close animated and live action films are. In spite of the innovative character of the new technology, that process can be read as a further step towards the continuous expansion of expressivity which characterizes the history of cinema since the silent years.
