Abstract

This catalogue provides a comprehensive review of mollusc remains from archaeological sites in the Iberian Peninsula. A total of 142 malacological analyses, including six unpublished faunas (i.e., Abrigo de la Peña del Perro, Termas romanas de Gijón, Cabezo Pequeño del Estaño, Pico Ramos, Almonte and La Viña) has been included. 68 additional sites, where the molluscs are strictly ornamental elements or still under analysis, appear as an appendix. The number of species is close to two hundred and includes taxa of marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments. We believe that a work such as this is a necessary tool in the present stage of archaeozoological development in the lberian Peninsula and we hope that this catalogue will become a basic reference for future research.
