Accelerated lives. Social and political effects of the acceleration of life under neoliberal conditions

Abstract
In this article we draw from the understanding of neoliberalism as a principle of political rationality (M. Foucault) the analysis of social acceleration (H. Rosa) as one of the fundamental dimensions in which the type of neoliberal rationality governs our behaviors. Finally, we will point out some of the social and political effects produced by social acceleration under neoliberal conditions, such as stress, anxiety or depression. Besides, we will argue that these disorders must be treated from a social, and not an individual, perspective (Bifo Berardi, M. Fisher), and in the same way they can be reduced through the construction of more egalitarian societies (K. Pickett and R. Wilkinson).
