Abstract
This article is a reflection on the background that feeds the entire philosophy of María Zambrano: the desire for unity. It is a background that is fed by her own soul as well as by her study of modern philosophy and the history, principally, of Spain and Europe. Biography and reflection intertwine to overcome failure and create a form of reason that is the basis of hope. This humanist proposal runs through all of Zambrano’s work and, to fulfil it, she did not hesitate to travel along discontinuous tracks.
