Biblioteca de Babel: Revista de Filología Hispánica is a research journal established in 2019 within the Spanish Philology Department of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Since 2023 it is specialized in the fields of Spanish language and general linguistics. Biblioteca de Babel publishes original, unpublished and peer-reviewed articles, that involve a significant progress in its research area. Each issue presents a monographic section, a theme-free articles section and an academic journal reviews section. Biblioteca de Babel publishes annually an issue whose contents are uploaded as soon as they are accepted, evaluated and edited (online-first process). Since 2022, we give the chance to publish, together with the articles, audiovisual materials (interview recordings, surveys...).

ISSNe: 2695-6349
Contact: revista.biblioteca.babel@uam.es

Impact indexes: CIRC (C).
Universidad Autónoma de Madrides-ESBiblioteca de Babel: Revista de Filología Hispánica2695-6349Linguistic attitudes, cultural identity and dialectal variation in la Mancha
https://revistas-new.uam.es/bibliotecababel/article/view/19914

This paper analyses the linguistic awareness of the speakers of la Mancha region in relation to the norm, variation and cultural identity. This region has historically been the one with the strongest personality and the one that has contributed the most to the newly created community of Castilla-La Mancha. By means of a digital survey conducted among 505 informants of varied sociological profile within the area identified as Manchegan, issues related to attitudes and beliefs towards the norm, the linguistic prejudices of the speakers, cultural self-identification and intergenerational differences are clarified. The study considers three possible causes: increased geographical mobility, new technologies and the absence of a strong identity in the region.
Rafael Fernández-Castillejos

https://revistas-new.uam.es/bibliotecababel/article/view/20193

This sociolinguistic and pragmatic analysis of an oral corpus of young female influencers from the world of fashion, cosmetics and social networks, through their personal YouTube channels, affords us to find out, within this particular jargon, what their communicative strategies are in terms of the use of anglicisms, determining their typology and their relationship with different linguistic mechanisms (phonetic, morphosyntactic, lexical-semantic and pragmatic) of a new vocabulary of English origin. We find a predominance of direct, non-adapted anglicism, although cases of hybrid variants stand out. Thanks to this classification, we can determine which linguistic and extra-linguistic social variables condition the use of anglicisms in this specific social profile which serves as a speech model for the youth population in our country.
Helena Rubio Martínez-Abarca
