Abstract

This publication is based on the research work carried out for the Master's Thesis during the curricular internships corresponding to the Master's Degree in Physical and Sports Activities for the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities at the Autonomous University of Madrid (AUM). These internships were carried out from February to May 2023 in the Prodis Foundation.

The objectives of this work were, firstly, to learn about the use of Physical Activity and Sport in the lines of action of the Prodis Foundation. On the other hand, to demonstrate the similarity and parallelism with the ideology, motivations and practices that were in the creation of Olympism, to conclude that, although the Olympic ideology is not explicitly manifested in its documentation and actions that it develops, it is evident as a living reality in the purposes and physical activities and sport that the foundation carries out.

The methodological design of the research was based on a process of information gathering through documentary analysis of documents of the Prodis Foundation, observations of its activities and interviews with professionals who provide services there and were previously identified and categorised as primary sources. Afterwards, the information and data obtained were triangulated. The result is a clear exposition of the foundations, from which the foundation develops its activities, a sample of its activities, of its careful and meticulous functioning with the evidence in its development of the values of solidarity, social responsibility, and contribution to a fairer world. And, as has been mentioned, they find their parallelism with the ideology of Olympism, also using physical and sporting activity as an instrument.
