Résumé

The archaeological research in Magan is relatively recent. Several Archaeological Missions are working now in the Oman Peninsula, where the sites can be dated from 3th millennium BC. The most important settlements belong to the iron Age, when the population is not only nomad but also sedentary. The permanent settlements are in the interior oasies, on the mountains and close to the coast. The sites along the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean coast are very usual. Most of them are only a shell mounds without associate structures, but several villages have been excavating too.
