Abstract

Hypermobility is one among many features of globalization. People-in-move and material and immaterial fluxes are shoving States borders anywhere. The figures of all the categories of persons-in-move are as various as voluntary migrants, irregular/clandestine migrants, refugees and, inside state borders, internally displaced persons. In the Central Africa area, the «push & pull» factor paved the way to a «migratory system» (Mabogunje, quoted in Ngoie 2018) the meaning of which is to grasp the geographical configuration displaying distinction in the migration dynamics between the countries of departure, the countries of destination and the countries of transit. To face migration issues within this area has involved States to forge policies through the ECCAS. This institution created in 1983 aims among other objectives to facilitate the free movement of people. This paper purposes to analyse this institution in order to assess the scope of the policies related to free movement of people, based on field research and written sources dealing with issues of migration in this area.
