Dead Certainty: Ethnic Violence in the Era of Globalization

Abstract

In this article, written in 1998, the anthropological studies made in the nineties about ethnic violence are revised. These studies identified that social uncertainty was the catalyst for this kind of violence. This conclusion is used for this globalization analysis, being this phenomenon which creates uncertainties; the ethnic violence that was unleashed in this context is brutal.
