Abstract

In order to analyze the rise and fall of modern political space, it is necessary to understand the importance that space has for political thought and for politics itself, beginning by explaining the meaning of the concept of "implicit space." This is the objective of my presentation today, which is based on the ideas I have developed in Political Spaces and Global War, published in English in 2010 (Minneapolis, Minnesota University Press, 2010; original edition: Bologna, Il Mulino, 2001) .

This text corresponds to a plenary lecture delivered by the author on June 23, 2014, in the Aula Prodi of the Department of History, Culture and Civilization of the University of Bologna, during the course of the Summer School on Global Studies and Critical Theory.
