Reflexiones para una mirada integral en salud pública en Argentina https://revistas-new.uam.es/rim/article/view/20526
Music therapy is included among the non-pharmacological therapy to address Parkinson Disease (EP). The implementation of standardized protocols can positively impact the symptoms and quality of life of people with EP. The disciplinary advances on the topic lead to new questions about the inclusion of music therapy on different stages of the disease, as well as about factors external to the pathology which are considered by professionals when applying such protocols. With the aim of reflecting on the music therapy approach in EP, considering challenges and work approaches, it was conducted a semi-structured interview with an Argentinian music therapist with experience on the topic. The institutional setting where clinical practice is developed, the particular traits of the patients with whom we work, and the professional positioning of the music therapists were identified as new points of research and analysis to continue advancing in the disciplinary knowledge on the subject.
Cinthia Roxana Bermúdez Morena López Verónika Diaz Abrahan Copyright (c) 2025 Revista de Investigación en Musicoterapia http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-11 2025-06-11 8 10 27 10.15366/rim2024.8.002 Influence of music therapy on the well-being and mental health of university students: a systematic literature review https://revistas-new.uam.es/rim/article/view/21460
Music therapy, recognised for its benefits in mental health and emotional well-being, is explored in this systematic review as an intervention for university students facing academic and personal stress. This article evaluates how music therapy can positively contribute to academic performance and foster a healthy educational experience, considering the unique challenges faced by this population group. In addition, it examines the ability of music therapy to provide a space for emotional expression and social connection, crucial for the management of certain common emotional disorders in students. Using the PRISMA protocol, an exhaustive search was conducted to select peer-reviewed studies published since 2019, focusing on the effectiveness of music therapy in university contexts. The main conclusion highlights the importance of integrating music therapy into university support services, proposing a holistic approach to improve the mental health and general well-being of students.

In the teaching-learning process, students may experience anxiety disorders caused by various factors, such as fear of failure, fear of being judged by peers, not understanding the explanations, or family pressure due to poor academic performance, among many others. These factors can lead to conditions such as anxiety, stress, fear, and even school dropout. This study was conducted with a total of 35 primary school students, who participated in seven music therapy sessions in groups of five to seven students. The goal was to provide them with tools to manage these mental states when they arise.
Gema Teresa Quirant Asencio Copyright (c) 2025 Revista de Investigación en Musicoterapia http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-11 2025-06-11 8 46 64 10.15366/rim2024.8.004 Effects of music therapy on stress reduction in uncomplicated hospitalized pediatric patients https://revistas-new.uam.es/rim/article/view/21940
In-hospital stress in a pediatric patient can significantly affect the patient's development. The use of music therapy is often a good method for reducing stress, so the effects of music therapy on stress reduction in uncomplicated hospitalized pediatric patients were analyzed. The methodology used was descriptive, correlational, quantitative, prospective, and cross-sectional. The "Observational Form for Measuring Stress in Children" was applied, validated by constructs and experts (Cronbach's alpha: 0.92 before and 0.95 after). Results were compared using McNemar's chi-square test. The intervention significantly reduced negative behaviors such as fear, sadness, irritability, and hyperactivity. Significant changes (p<0.05): restlessness (p=0.0005), hyperactivity (p=0.035), fear (p=0.004), sadness (p=0.002), tantrums (p=0.001), and irritability (p=0.013). No significant changes were observed in appetite, aggressive behavior, or sleep (p>0.05).

Gisselle Vásquez Cortés Copyright (c) 2025 Revista de Investigación en Musicoterapia http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-06-11 2025-06-11 8 65 77 10.15366/rim2024.8.005
