The purpose of the research we present was to check the efficiency of an intervention procedure to develop summary skills on different levels of education in E.G.B. In order to carry out the experimental check-out, 58 subjects of 5th (10-11 years old) and 8th grade E.G.B. (13-14 years old) were selected. These subjects were distributed into two groups on both levels: Group A, who worked with the procedure we designed: and Group B, who worked according to «Reciprocal Teaching» (Palincsar y Brown, 1984). A cuasi-experimental 2X2 factorial design with pretest-postest was used. As a dependent variable we took into account the results from the tests of Free Remembering and Summary: Omission/Selection, Generalization and Integration. The results show that the students who followed our procedure were better in summary strategies, maintaining these results even when compared to the group who folloved the alternative methodology. Some developmental differences were also appreciated.
