Abstract

There is no doubt that Biology is one of the basic subjects in Medicine. This article checks the knowledge that pupils have in their last year at high school. It revises deeply the study program and the results in the Selectividad exam (exam taken before entering university) comparing them with those results achieved by first year Medicine students. The article also shows the changes that the new Education Law (LOGSE) has meant in Secondary Education regarding different aspects which affect the formation of pupils: resources, materials, time spent in laboratories, teachers' training...
