Abstract

The tradicional method in the teaching of Mathematics which is based in the locical-deductive aspect of the subject, has shown its effectiveness (many generations of pupils have learnt Mathematics this way) but it has also shown its limitations (many pupils have had difficulty with this subject). This article suggests the idea that perhaps it would be convenient to follow the same method professional mathematicians use when working. This would lead to a learning-teaching process through guided discovery, where meaningful learning of mathematics takes the place of meaningless use of formulae.
