Abstract
The paper comments on a series of fish remains retrieved from a building and a couple of cisterns of roman times in the city of Carthage. The dominance of marine species and, within them, of sea breams, basses and groupers, seems coincident with fish abundances at other sites in the Mediterranean and, on top of paleoecological connotations, discussed for the various taxa, it testifies to the existence of an affluent nucleus of inhabitants in the area.
