Is love an ideology or a psychosocial force? Towards a Negri-inspired understanding of a political passion

Abstract
This article criticises the notion of
love as ideology that dominates contemporary
feminist reflections, contrasting
it with one of love understood, within
the framework of the emotional turn, as
a force that enables the creation of new
social bonds in the current context of
social crisis. Among the multiple voices
that bring together this perspective, Toni
Negri offers us a concept of love —which
is crystallised in the trilogy Empire, Multitude
and Commonwealth— as a creative
psychosocial passion that allows us to illuminate
the problematic knot between
diverse subjectivities and affects when
it comes to thinking about the ways
in which we wish to inhabit our social
world.
