Abstract
Philosophical counseling has been criticized because it has been considered a normalizing and adaptative activity in the social system. If this were the case, this discipline would be discredited philosophically, because it would conflict with one of the bases of philosophy: its critical dimensions. Criticism requires the ability to question the bases of the ideological system and thus it prevents the subject from becoming alienated. That alienated person will accept the given reality without question. This article aims to explore the validity of this recriminatory argument towards consulting philosophy based on the theory, texts, and practices of the main representatives of the discipline at a national and international level.
