Abstract
There is a direct relationship between violence and poor school performance. The specialized literature amply confirms the fact that schools produce less satisfactory results when teachers and other members of the technical team use symbolic violence and physical violence against students and colleagues, generating a vicious circle and a culture of failure. and drop out of school. The violence that affects the order, motivation, satisfaction and expectations of people in their mutual relations, has very plausible effects on schools, which are related to the failure of their purposes and broader objectives of education, teaching and learning. This paper aims to describe the experience of the Abriendo Espacios program (now Open Schools) implemented by UNESCO / Brazil since 2000. Abriendo Espacios is launched from a Culture of Peace, Citizenship, Coexistence and School Climate approach. Subsequently, the State of Brazil institutionalized the program promoted by UNESCO throughout the country under the name Open Schools.Downloads
