Abstract

Since its independence in 1956, Tunisia has supported a two-state solution according to the 1947 UN borders and has supported the Palestinian people struggle. This has not prevented the maintenance of political and economic relations with Israel, mostly tacit, pragmatic and fluctuating according to the political context. Similarly, and despite its official support, relations with the Palestinian authorities have been conditioned by Arab and conflict related pressures. Although President Kais Saïed has toughened the pro-Palestinian discourse, no substantial changes can be observed in Tunisia's traditional position vis-à-vis the parties.
