Abstract

One of the great challenges of contemporary times is the possibility of opening up spaces that help us to promote education for peace and social justice. Today, when there is a more than absolute predominance of values linked to economism and immediacy, it is essential to cultivate resources, competencies and capacities in favour of equal opportunities and the achievement of greater human and natural well-being. For this reason, the promotion of peaceful means, from the formal education system, for the transformation of any kind of suffering and inequality is becoming increasingly necessary. It is precisely with this aim in mind that this monograph is born, from which, in dialogue with non-formal and informal education, we wish to emphasise the importance of devising educational systems that promote values such as peace, cooperation, empathy, active listening, recognition and non-violent communication, among others, as well as reflection on the positive regulation of conflicts, gender, care for the environment, interculturality... In other words, education systems that give rise to a whole horizon of opportunities to advance towards the establishment of cultures for peace and that, at the same time, encourage the formation of committed and responsible citizens, capable of ethical, critical and creative thinking when facing stressful and anxious situations that arise in their daily lives.
